Vidyasagar School of Social Work has been aware and responsive to different social problems arising out of multi-faceted social change. In the recent past it has been observed that individual and communities have started experiencing complex mental problems unknown and unnoticed beforehand. The increased frequency of these problems is threatening the very fabric of the society due to lack of proper intervention process both curative as well as prophylactic.
With several years of successful running the Masters degree programme in Social Work, the Institute has understood that one of the key hurdles remains the lack of properly trained professionals in counselling in the backdrop of the magnitude and multi-dimensional nature of the problem. The objective of the course is to provide a high standard of professional education to the trainees to enable them to become competent, effective and resourceful practitioners and also to enable them apply psychological knowledge to the practice of the counselling psychology.
