Awareness & Advocacy

The Institute plays the role of a facilitator in awareness and advocacy campaign on anti-trafficking issues. Under this programme, block and district level programmes are organized involving Panchayat officials, Government functionaries, ICDS workers etc. Trafficking related issues like push-pull factors, identification of source areas, need for responsive community action to thwart trafficking, networking with various Govt. departments, Police, ICDS, NGOs and CBOs for information exchange and rescue and repatriation of survivors of trafficking etc are discussed.

The programme is presently being organized in the following districts which have been identified as trafficking prone districts of West Bengal:
Jalpaiguri (Rajgung, Moynaguri, Kalchini & Metli)
24 Parganas (N) (Haroa, Baduria & Barrackpore)
24 Parganas (S) (Diamond Harbor I, Magrahat II & Canning II)
Purba Medinipur ( Nandigram II, Ramnagar I & Panskura)
Paschim Medinipur (Debra, Dantan & Jhargram)
Dakshin Dinajpur (Tapan, Hili & Kumargunj)
Murshidabad (Beldanga I, Hariharpara & Jalangi)
